5 Easy Ways To Stay Organised

Are you organised? Many people claim they’re not and there is not much they can do about it, which is not true. Here are some simple five easy ways that will help you to stick to your plan and acomplish your goals in both proffesional and personal life.

1. Do you really want to do this?

Being nice to everyone is not always a good idea. The sooner you will stick to your priorities, the better. You need to learn to say “no” to other people and do not feel guilty about it. If your agenda is full at some day, do not hesitate to tell it. If you do not value your time, no one will. There was a separate post on prioritizing and why setting goal is so important which I recommend to you.

2. Do a to-do list

Smart to-do list can help you to focus on your goals and progress with your plan. It cannot contain too much tasks, so stay realistic! Otherwise you will be confused what to start with and your priorities can be neglected. Depending on the complexity, five items sound reasonable to me. Accomplishing of most of them will give you the feeling of having control and progress. Additionally, writing things down and being honest with yourself is the key.

3. Small steps matters

Sometimes we may feel disappointed if we’re struggling with some tasks for a long time. If these are complex tasks like organizing a wedding or learning for an exam you will not be able to accomplish it within a few days. Do not get frustrated too soon and  stick to your plan – all small steps matters. If your goals are realistic and clear, you will succeed. Having a process fragmented into small steps demonstrates that you have a plan. And of course do not forget to reward yourself after accomplishing your goals.

4. Make use of your phone

Let’s face the truth: we’re using the phone all the time. Turn it on the plane mode while working or studying. This will give you the comfort to concentrate and accomplish your tasks on time. We can actually make the best of it and use  calendars and some smart apps which will help us to keep or planner up to date. Personally I recommend you Google Keep app for making notes and lists which you can then share with your friends and family. Also a web-based calendar can make your life easier by automatic reminders of some recurring events e.g. birthdays and meetings, will help you to stay on track.

5. Stick to one thing

Are you a great fan of multitasking? Unfortunately sometimes it does not work. Our brains have limited capacity and if you want to get things done well, I encourage to stick to one thing. Moving back and forth and switching between activities does not sound very productive. Get rid of tasks that slow you down and start to proiritize. Sometimes it’s better to accoplish one task, even if a small one, rather than just start a few new.
